This is how it all started…

I started this blog because, throughout my career, I kept seeing data teams struggle with the same problems — not because they lacked smart people, but because the platforms behind their work were often fragile, messy, and hard to evolve.

Why I started writing

I did not start this blog because I wanted to write about tools.

I started it because I kept seeing the same patterns again and again: unclear ownership, fragile pipelines, missing standards, incomplete documentation, and data models that became harder to change with every new requirement.

I have been part of those systems too. I have built pipelines that later needed redesign. I have seen small shortcuts turn into long-term platform debt. And I have seen how much better things become when the platform is treated as an engineering product, not just a place where tables happen to live.

The platform is not just a place where tables happen to live. It is an engineering product.

What this blog is about

This blog is about data platforming: the practical engineering work behind reliable data systems.

I write about:

  • architecture
  • orchestration
  • ingestion
  • metadata
  • observability
  • data quality
  • governance
  • infrastructure
  • practical platform design decisions

I am especially interested in the less glamorous parts of data engineering, because those are often the parts that decide whether a platform actually works in production.

Who this is for

This is a place for notes, lessons learned, technical deep dives, opinions, experiments, and honest reflections from building and improving modern data platforms.

If you are a data engineer, analytics engineer, platform engineer, or data architect — or simply someone who has ever looked at a broken pipeline and thought there has to be a better way — this blog is probably for you.

I am always happy to exchange experiences, compare approaches, and learn how other teams solve similar problems.
